So Salim was giving me the run down on how the so called courting goes on here. Well how it works....simply the man sees a women and if she pleases his eye he will propose to her and her family. Which usually consists of 3000 rials. And as long as her father likes him its a done deal. He may not of even talked to her before that moment. Now Salim tells me that was the old way. The new way is to sneak around and get to know a girl your interested in. And when the time comes and if your asked if you know her you lie and say no or say something like she's friends with my sister. Its all done behind closed doors. The same marital fee applies. Although, the women would sometimes put up half to help pay her family. I've learned that appearances matter a great deal.
