From what I've been able to gather Mosque's are like church's in Oklahoma, one on every corner. Salim gave me the quick tour we just walked around the grounds of the Grand mosqueand took some pictures. At one point we stopped and chatted with a guard, who was armed with a rather large pistol, about if we could get inside. They were preparing for noon prayer and we were told we couldn't get in. Later Salim entered the main mosque area and told me it was ok for me get a couple quick pics because the guard wouldn't be able to see us. I won't even attempt to describe it. The architecture and the detail in this place is the most intricate I've seen. The pictures can't really do it justice. I felt tiny in the main prayer room. The carpet, which from what I could guess is at least two football fields in size, maybe 3. Its hand made and worth millions of rials (2.6 rials = $1.00). For those of you who didn't already know the men and women have separate prayer rooms.
