Jeff and I go to an incredible church called Norman Community. It's a little different. We meet in houses and then once a month meet as a big body. Like Jeff said earlier, we didn't fully understand what community truly meant until this church. The cluster we belong to is called 2:42 and our mission statement is "A family of believers actively bringing the Kingdom of God to the people of Norman" It's from Acts 2:42-45 which says "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need."
This is what we are praying for in Muscat. Whether we know it or not, we all yearn to be in community with people. I believe thats how we were created- to be and desire community. At church yesterday, I just felt an overwhelming thankfulness towards my community and wanted to say thanks. To those in our church and outside our church. People have lent us their patio furniture (to make our house look good), have called to check up on me while Jeff is away, mowed our lawn, offered runs to the store when I was sick, and just prayed over us for real specific things.
We stand confident in the verse So...Thanks. the bar is set high for Oman. But we pray expectantly for that.
