Friday on a Sunday

The streets of Muscat were seemingly empty today in comparison with the previous days here. This was excellent for getting around quicker. Apparently, lots of people keep an apartment in Muscat for the work week, and then travel to their homes in the interior on the weekend. But today seemed like a ghost town even compared to yesterday. Friday is known as prayer day or what I keep calling the sabbath.

I went to church today. Which, according to the sign is The church. I was overwhelmed by how many people were in attendance. I think there was about 150 people or so and apparently some folks are still on holiday. It was a fairly straight forward “traditional contemporary” service with a slight blend of some anglican traditions. I briefly visited with Pastor Jack who was very welcoming. I’m interested to see what part we will play in the community here. I walked away extremely encouraged from what I saw.
