Inter-India

So today was a rather long one. We woke up in Delhi hopped on a plan to Ahmedabad had a handful of meetings and then jumped on another plane to Hyderbad. I wish I was able to record some of our encounters today.

We had one big presentation to about 6 engineers. The presentation part went well, but again after many long pauses we explained ourselves about 8 different times and finally after running in circles ended the meeting with the agreement that more data was required for us to help this company with their production. The other meetings went off with out a hitch and were actually pleasant, but seriously I can't explain how weird these long pauses in conversation are. Its driving me crazy.

The immense poverty is very disheartening. Yet, it feels that no one is bothered by it. I actually saw houses feet from main roads made of mud and countless other homes that looked like tents. What these people do I do not know, but the shear volume of people here is impressive. Their are a ton of motorcycles....I actually saw 4 people riding one moped. The really little children ride in the laps of the moped drivers.

Story of the day...we were unloading bags at the airport when kp, our legally blind partner, took a tumble. I didn't see it, he had walked ahead of me and by the time I got there the poor guy was slowly getting up and was no doubt embarrassed in the moment, he later made light of his tumble. But the really impressive thing was so many people sprang into action to assist him up...it had to be like 6 people tried to help him to make sure he was ok. Thankfully, we were done with meetings because his nice dress shirt was covered in dust and he had to of hit his head. As I'm writing this I'm laughing because we jsut got back from dinner and good old kp has a knot the size of a tennis ball protruding out from his head. But he assures us he's alright, he's been nothing short of entertaining.

I'm continually impressed with the hotel's we stay in. The one I'm currently in is nicer than the previous and I'm told this is standard for our stays over here. I'm certain this will only spoil my increadibly privleldged life. And the best part is all the doormen have these crazy mustaches....i tried to get a picture of one, but he was like 6'5" and I was too close to discretely get a picture with my blackberry. I'm guessing this will be my last post for a while...Tomorrow I get to finally head home...
